A Beach Life

Welcome to 2013! It's been a while hasn't it? The team at Windemere Interiors have been very busy over the past few months. This is one project that has been keeping us busy - a double storey home decorated in "A Beach Life" theme.

Natural and neutral canvas colours of sand and taupe with splashes of colours reminiscent of Brighton beach huts.

Splashes of colour in these cushions brighten up the living space while beach themed accents create a cool and casual feel.

A bench table creates a permanent dining space for casual or formal meals. Cool white with accents of sand continues the beach theme. 

Casual living space with neutral carpet, lounge and walls are given splashes of citrus for depth, texture and interest.

Multi coloured cushions and bedhead create a fun but relaxing atmosphere in this bedroom. 

Driftwood inspired benchtops are combined with the cool blue of the splashback and shots of vivid red for a kitchen.

Furniture in natural timbers create a calming environment, perfect for bedrooms.

The smooth crispness of white linen against the textured rattan of the furniture create a contrasting and three dimensional effect.

Inspired by the retro Brighton Beach Shacks in St Kilda, these brightly coloured cushions liven up the retreat.

Coastal Inspiration

Influenced by the surrounding coastal lifestyle of North Sapphire Beach, this fresh, breezy home has been decorated with the "Beach Life" interior theme by Windemere Interiors.

Drawing inspiration from the sandy beaches, cool sea breezes and ocean waters, Beach Life is created by a fresh combination of whites, sands and blue accents with textures of natural timbers and fibres.

Windemere Interiors designer Lindy Evans says the Beach Life theme creates a little island paradise in your home, reminiscent of the retro beach shacks and summer holidays. "Like the old style beach huts, we've used a palette of sand and white to reflect the natural light streaming throughout the home. It creates a cool and calming environment and neutral canvas for the blue accents," says Lindy. "Cool blue accents from the teal of the shallow waters to the indigo of the depths of the ocean add splashes of colour, while contrasting reds and greens create freshness and vibrancy."

Furniture in natural and washed timbers combined with woven wicker and rattan for texture while over-stuffed cushions in light, natural fabrics are piled across couches and beds for a casual and comfortable feel. Decorator accents of driftwood, rope and coral complete the nautical theme, creating a charming and coastal home.

Beach Life

Summon the coastal vibe to your home with the comfortable and casual theme that is Beach Life.

Inspired by the sandy beaches, cool sea breezes and ocean waters, Beach Life is created by a fresh combination of whites, sands and blue accents.

Windemere Interiors designer Edam Triffett says a Beach Life Theme creates a little holiday paradise in your home. “The fresh colours and natural fabrics in this theme are reminiscent of the ultimate beach holiday home. Casual and relaxing, it’s a little coastal escape, even if you’re in the middle of the city.”

To recreate this theme in your home, create a neutral canvas of whites and sands with highlights of ocean blue. Combine furniture in soft grained and lime washed timbers or woven wicker. Pile casually with over-stuffed cushions in light, natural fabrics. Add a few nautical decorator accents of driftwood and model ships.

Shells collected from beach holidays can be displayed in glass bowls filled with sand to decorate entrance ways, side boards and bookshelves.

Outside, minimalist landscaping with grasses emulate coastal sand dunes while a hammock and deck chairs create a private little spot to laze in the breeze.
