A modern take on a classic interior

The latest project by Windemere Interiors is this divine double storey display home in the Brisbane suburb of Rochedale.

The "Modern Classic" theme is a modern twist on the classic black and white palette, with layers of neutrals in various textures and colours with pops of black.

This light and airy family room features a two way fireplace with the alfresco. Layers of cream and taupe create a warm and inviting palette with pops of charcoal and chevron for depth and interest.

The charcoal floor tiles in the main bathroom have been laid in an interesting herringbone pattern, making the white freestanding bath and vanity pop!

The upstairs open child's retreat has a comfy lounge and entertainment unit…perfect for those lazy DVD days.

The gorgeous master bedroom features an ensuite, walk in wardrobe, retreat with plush layerings of soft furnishings.

A little girl's dream bedroom...

And one for a little boy….

For the teenager or overnight guest.

Windemere's Urban Living Theme

Filled with warmth and character with pops of bold colour, Windemere Interior's  "Urban Living" interior theme has been a talking point amongst visitors at the "Cebel" display home by Adenbrook Homes in Port Macquarie.

Taupe coloured walls and warm timber look floors create a neutral canvas for the industrial inspired decoration. Layered textures of linen, sisal and canvas are combined with industrial metals and curved plywood to create a fascinating and stylish interior.

Designer Lindy Evans is the creative talent behind the Cebel's unique and eclectic interior. Inspired by modern industrial warehouse apartments, the theme has been modified to create a comfortable yet striking interior.

"The urban living theme at the Cebel is bold with many layers, creating depth and character, however it's an interior that can be easily tailored to any family's personal taste," said Lindy. "The eclectic mix is one that can be created from a fusion of textures and colours from natural materials, plastics and metals in colour drenched shades."

Pops of colour are evident throughout the home, from the vintage posters on the walls to the Aztec inspired colours in the cushions and rugs.

The theme is clean and modern with pops of colour that suits the casual coastal lifestyle. With elements of upmarket style, the space is still practical and very comfortable to live in.

Tribal Rhythm - from the runway to the rumpus room

Tribal is the global phenomenon that’s sweeping the fashion world, seen in designer collections worldwide and chain stores throughout Australia. The trend is a blend of rich, Aztec colours, animal prints, earthy textures and symbolic motifs.

Now the world's hottest fashion trend has inspired the world of interior design and the exotic theme has gone from catwalk to the home creating bold interiors of primal character and spicy warmth.

Interior Designer Lindy Evans says runway themes often mirror interior design themes and tribal has been extremely popular in fashion and in the home. "The tribal theme has warmth and character and gives the home a comfortable and casual feel. It's easy to create and easy to update and maintain," she said.

To recreate this theme, Lindy suggests drawing inspiration from the visual and aromatic feast of an African food market. “Think rustic red hues and earthy tones of the Savannah landscape to create a calming canvas, then add splashes of vibrant colour to delight the senses. Dark, solid aged timber furniture is balanced with warm lighting create a serene ambience,” she said.

Meet the Designer - Lindy Evans

Lindy's love of interior design and architecture began when she was only a child. Instead of playing with her Barbie dolls she would spend all holidays designing and building her dolls the most lavish homes.

Work at her mother's homewares, linen and window furnishing store also fuelled Lindy's passion for beautiful things early in life. "I love design because it’s what I’m so passionate about. I have always been this way. I love creating interior spaces that people just love to be in for many years."

After graduating from her studies in Interior Technology, Lindy gained extensive experience in the residential and commercial market. It's residential interiors however that is her passion and that makes her role at Windemere Interiors the perfect partnership. "My passion is definitely residential design and I absolutely love doing cabinetry design, whether it be a kitchen, built-in furniture or WIR. The projects I enjoy the most would have to be the ones that combine all these design elements."

Since joining Windemere Interiors in 2005, Lindy has completed countless projects and is known for creating unique and stylish interiors that are both artful and functional.

Interview with Lindy

What do you describe as your interior design style?

It’s hard to select just one as I love so many different styles. My home is definitely contemporary with a twist of modern colourful tribal influences. The colours/shades are mainly greys and whites with pops of colour (pink, yellow and green) in art and accessories. My decorating items are a little quirky and off beat. For example, I have used a children’s fabric for the cushions on my sofa (it’s a very luxurious fabric, but still part of a children’s collection)

What is it that you love about interior design in general?

I love design because it’s what I’m so passionate about. I have always been this way. I love creating interior spaces that people just love to be in for many years.

What inspires you?

Being a designer you never switch off, life in general influences the way I create. Being a creative person I take inspiration form life in general. I can be walking down a street or through a park and get inspiration for a particular project.

What is your favourite project?

My passion is residential design. I absolutely love doing cabinetry design, whether it be a kitchen, built-in furniture or WIR. My favourite projects would have to be the ones that combine all these design elements.

Do you have a favourite decorator piece at home and what is the story behind it?

Revol Crinkle Cup
How can I pick just one, that is like asking to pick between your children!! A couple of things I could not live without are my Revol Crinkle Cups (cups that look like plastic disposable cups but in fact are beautiful porcelain.

Another is my Ligne Roset Calin occasional chair with matching ottoman. It looks very minimal in form but is the most comfortable seat you will ever sit in.
